Psychotherapy/Counselling
The terms "counselling" and "psychotherapy" are often used interchangeably. counselling is a talking treatment.
Who is it for?
I counsel clients who would like to deal with problems in different aspects of life, perhaps related to:
- work
- relationships
- personal self esteem
- lack of people skills
- management of stress
- management of emotions
and so on
However, if you have a clinical problem which may require medication, for example, serious depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias or other serious conditions, please consult a psychiatrist.
In psychotherapy/counselling sessions we will work together on exploring and clarifying the various aspects of the problem that you are experiencing. I will use psychological therapeutic methods to assist you in acquiring techniques that will help you better cope with the problems that you are facing. I will help enhance your self awareness and enable you to perceive alternative choices of thought, feeling or action. I would primarily be using the cognitive therapy techniques (refer page on Cognitive Therapy)but inorder to maximally help you I may use other therapeutic methods like that of:
- gestalt therapy
- person-centered therapy
- brief therapy
- existential therapy
Goals of counselling
I will help you learn to better manage your subjective discomfort or distress and to increase your sense of well-being.
Time frame for counselling
Therapy sessions normally will be held once a week except in a crisis when sessions could be scheduled more often. The normal therapeutic hour is around 50 minutes.
Confidentiality
I am professionally bound to respect and maintain confidentiality about the counselling sessions. However this may not be possible in some instances, for example when there is reasonable suspicion of abuse, neglect, homicide or other health and safety issues.

Coaching
Coaching is more focused on self empowerment than counselling and therapy which are more problem-focused.
Who is it for?
Coaching is for you if you would like to enhance your skills and performance at work, in relationships and life in general.
It is not suited for those who have clinically significant mental heath issues or abnormal levels of distress.
The Coaching Process
In coaching I will be focusing on your strengths and empowering you by equipping you with skills that will help you to perform at the top of your potential in business and in personal life. I will help identify and change beliefs and behavior which hold you back from realizing your potential.
Using scientifically validated techniques and theories of psychology,I will help to create the behavioral change you desire. I will assist you in determining and achieving your personal and life goals by helping you align your daily actions with your long-term goals.
Goals of Coaching
Through coaching I will help you realize your potential so that you can lead a more fulfilling life.
Time Frame
The normal coaching hour is around 60 minutes. Coaching sessions will be held once a week.
